Beloved Communion
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Where you find
The marvelous saints
Displaced and hungry
Short life and cold nights
In prison and dark allies
I found them
Blessed are they
The Poor in Spirit
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Where you meet saints
Weeping in union
Lost Life, broken bodies
Awake to the world’s pain
Ruptures in fellowship
Bring them such pain
Blessed are they
Who Mourn
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Where you find
The art of surrender
Humble they released
Pursuit of man’s praise
Grips on riches and pleasure
Instead, they found me, their treasure
Blessed are they
The Meek
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Filled with contagious zeal
Where you'll meet my delight
Parched and famished
Longing for restored humanity
Satisfied and quenched
Through feasting on me, their bread
Blessed are they
Who Crave Righteousness
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Where weak and wounded,
Enjoying and strengthening one other
Wounds and limps exposed
Radiating mercy
They generously give
All that they are, in worship
Blessed are they
The Merciful
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Discover the ones who see
The invisible
They look into the eyes
Of the unwanted and lonely
Seeing Me, they call them “Holy”
Welcoming the abandoned as family
Blessed are they
The Pure in Heart
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Meet my children
Radiating the beauty of joy
Through hostility and assault
They found each other
Subverting abusive power through love
They remain like little ones
Blessed are they
My Peacemakers
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Find the martyrs, the abandoned, rejected
Loyal to me, they wont won’t conform to false kingdoms
Resisting the darkness
They open windows so others can see
Into my kingdom of light
Their only desired reward, this beloved communion
Blessed are they
The Persecuted
Enter the gates
Of this beloved communion
Find my children
Pouring my love
Into one another
Blessed are you
My Saints
