Sacred Union
At first I met you
In the mystery
Of holy transformation
When I exchanged my robe
For your dirty rags
Glorious was that day
Remember how we walked
Just you and I
Through dark valleys
And raging seas
To bring you here
Because it’s not enough to save you
From damnation, eternal separation
But to know me
Is to know my joy
The fellowship inside me
Union is no abstraction
Divorced from embodied action
But as you enter deeper
Into my communion
Greater healing will be found
In the treasures I’ve hidden
Within the brethren all around
To know me more intimately
I now need you to trust
That I am not satisfied with
Merely private encounter
But because I want you fully seen
I brought you to this place
To encounter others face to face
No need to hide
Like you, they were once lost
But now they’re found and inhabit me
And there are depths of you
I want to reach
And I will do it
Through the flesh of my beloved saints
There is something much greater
Than euphoria you have known in moments
And it is to be deeply seen
And see
Within my sacred union
Be a fellow sinner
There is no need to hide
Or protect
It is within this fellowship
That I will fight
For you to be seen
By each other
It is here that I will contend
For your soul to emerge
Content
Receiving and giving love
Within my sacred union
